The Emergency Progam Coordinator is responsible to help assess, plan, coordinate, implement, & evaluate Medical Center

emergency preparedness efforts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for assisting Emergency Program Director with providing support to Medical Center emergency preparedness efforts.
  • This includes, but is not limited to: developing plans & procedures, planning & presenting training & exercises, writing reports, &
  • representing Medical Center at preparedness meetings at local, regional & state levels.
  • Demonstrates teaching skills & classroom management skills
  • Maintains effective communications
  • Assists in development of programs in Emergency Management
  • Demonstrates competency in selected areas involving psychomotor skills
  • Adheres to safety policies & procedures of organization
  • Recognizes & reports potential safety issues
  • Serve as role model/staff resource
  • Provide input to managers & other staff on Emergency Management issues
  • Maintains Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) instructor status
  • Assists with NVCI classes
  • Serves on other committees as assigned
  • Serves as Nurse Planner for identified areas
  • Coordinates Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) activities
  • Maintains confidentiality
  • Supports & contributes to organizational cost-saving initiatives
  • Practices Core Values
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, nursing or related field required or commensurate experience

Education &/or experience in Emergency Management, incident command, hospital operations, & familiarity with local, regional, &

state healthcare system design & emergency response procedures

Completion of NIMS courses: IS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700 & 800
