Cardiac Device Specialist

The Cardiac Device Specialist performs interrogation, testing, interpretation and programming of Pacemakers and Automatic Internal Cardioverter Defibrillators. (AICD)  Uses software (patient electronic medical records and device database) to enter patient data and provide reports for the physicians and patients charts. Uses patient data to make recommendations regarding optimal programming for the patient.

Interrogates devices (pacemakers, AICD automated internal cardioverter defibrillators, etc) and interprets devices for basic threshold and intracardiac measurements, and makes necessary program changes under the direction of the Electrophysiologist.

Manages remote device follow up and schedules follow up appointments with patients as appropriate based on the data interpretation.

Manages the device database by entering interrogation data.  Schedules follow up appointments with patients as appropriate based on the data interpretation.

Completes the charge capture process in the electronic medical record for all patients seen in the device clinic and/or captured by remote device follow-ups.

Examines wounds post-device implant on initial visit of all post-op patients to ensure the incision is healing appropriately and communicates issues or problems with the Electrophysiologist.

This position works at the Fairfield office location as well as the West location.

Minimum Education:  High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Education: Associates in cardiac device program

Minimum Experience: 2 years of experience in cardiac device management or 3 years medical assistant in cardio setting or other experience with cardiac rhythms left to the discretion of the hiring manager.  Experience could include but not limited to cath lab, electrophysiology lab, stress lab or monitor watcher in a hospital setting.
